LeTisha Bonar Smith’s portrayal of the American West was framed from the deep seat of an oversized saddle, long before her boots could reach the stirrups. With a lax reign and a drifting gaze, she became intimately familiar with the subtleties of light and color as the dust serenaded the clouds and waltzed along the edge of the flatirons. As if a leaf tugging at the last rays of light, her artist’s eye was bewitched with each stroke of nature’s brush, and she became a life-long student of the flora, fauna, people and culture of the American West.
